Education Agency Handles COVID-19 Cases in Schools

The Jakarta Education Agency took quick steps in handling COVID-19 cases which detected in 15 schools while running 100% Face-to-face Learning (PTM) system some time ago.

Due to findings in COVID-19 cases, PTM in schools is suspended and directed to Distance Learning System (PJJ)

Jakarta Education Agency's Public Relation Division Head, Taga Radja Gah conveyed, his side had made various efforts to prevent and handle COVID-19 transmission in schools.

Several efforts had been made, such as implementing self-isolation for students or teachers who were exposed to COVID-19, as well as tracing and testing people who were in close contact with patients.

"Due to findings in COVID-19 cases, PTM in schools is suspended and directed to Distance Learning System (PJJ). Besides, all rooms are also sprayed with disinfectant," he stated, Tuesday (1/18).

According to him, 3 of 15 schools that had temporarily suspending PTM due to findings in COVID-19 cases have now reopened, namely SMAN 71, SMK Malaka, and SMK Asisi.

"Those three schools have re-implemented 100% PTM," he added.

Those schools could carry out PTM again based on recommendation from the Jakarta Health Agency by paying attention to close contacts' testing results and confirming that the results were negative

Until today, there are 12 schools that carry out PJJ system temporarily. Teachers and students exposed to COVID-19 are also still undergoing self-isolation for two weeks.

"We are tracing and testing people who have been in close contact with patients in schools. Thank God, all results are negative," he mentioned.

Here are the list of 12 schools that temporarily suspending 100% PTM:

1. SDN Ceger 02 Pagi - 3 positive cases (students)

2. SDN Susukan 08 Pagi - 1 positive case (student)

3. SDN 01 Pagi - 1 positive case (student)

4. SMP Islam Andalus - 1 positive case (student)

5. SMP Labschool Kebayoran - 1 positive case (teacher)

6. SMPN 62 Jakarta - 1 positive case (teacher)

7. SMPN 252 Jakarta - 1 positive case (student)

8. SMP Azhari Islamic School Rasuna - 1 positive case (student)

9. SMA Labschool Kebayoran - 2 positive cases (students) and 1 positive case (teacher)

10. SMAN 20 Jakarta - 1 positive case (student)

11. SMAN 6 Jakarta - 1 positive case (student)

12. SMA Pelita 3 - 1 positive case (student)
